Greetings all.
Well it's been a little while since I posted (again)... I've had a lot of not so great real life stuff going on recently, but this little blog of mine isn't about real life, it's about toy soldiers (which are much more enjoyable). With that said, I have an update for you...
First up, I got the rest of my cultists ready for painting:
More old school goodness here, and more Necromunda goodies too. From left to right: classic beastman, Necromunda Wyrd, Confrontation Scavvy, Necromunda Pit Slave, and Necromunda Scavvy. Some minor conversion work here once again, using bits from the plastic Chaos Cultists. I'm well pleased with how this motley crew have turned out and I can't wait to get some paint on them!
I've also been experimenting with a bit of green stuff press moulding. I've had a headless flesh hound sitting around for some time, and as these chaps have been out of production for more than a few years, it's a little tricky to find a replacement. So I came up with a solution! It's the first time I've done any press moulding so it isn't perfect, but it came out better than expected so I'm rather pleased:
Lastly, as I'm constantly tinkering with my army list (so I can crush my enemies, see them driven before me, and hear the lamentations of their women. Obviously.), it gives me reasons to paint more models. My most recent iteration meant that I needed a handful more horrors, plus a few additions to my fast attack choices:
I painted this little lot up pretty quickly by my standards, but I'm pretty happy with them. Since painting these guys, I've actually tinkered further, so I need to paint up a few more dudes, but such is life!
Comments are welcome of course!

We captured it for Chaos: Chaos Cultists WIP
Greetings all.
Not a big update from me today, but just letting you know that I am alive and well, and that I do have some projects very much on the go (just haven't had much to show for it till now).
You may remember that a while ago I was deliberating over my model choices for my Chaos Cultists (if you don't, trust me, I was!). In the end I decided to go for an eclectic rabble, and tie them together with a cohesive colour scheme.
My inspiration for the cult is definitely this picture (courtesy of Lexicanum):
This bunch of degenerates just screams "Chaos Cult" and I wanted a similar selection of rotters for my cult. With that in mind, here are the first five:
I've pretty much plundered the Necromunda and Mordheim ranges for my cult, as they're so full of character. These guys are made up of two early Scavvies, two Mordheim Dregs, and my one of my most favourite models, an Underhive Scum. I've done a small amount of conversion work to them, just to bring them in line with the armament in the codex. Got another five in the pipeline soon.
Hope you like em!

It's been a while... again!
Greetings all.
It's already been too long since my last post, but I'm afraid some real life stuff has been getting in the way. I've actually had these pics ready to go for a while, and finally I can show you what I've been up to.
First up is another magic marker, this time for the psychic power "Misfortune". Now what says "misfortune" better than this little guy:
First time I've painted anything black, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. He's actually a *very* dark grey, but turns out that actual black ends up looking extremely flat.
Next up, some more little dudes. Now that Nurglings are actually quite useful again (no longer non-scoring, and still dirt cheap), I painted up a few (with more on the way in fact):
More soon!

What's on my painting table?
Greetings all.
I've been pretty busy with a bunch of assembly work recently, but I'm almost finished with it all (for now anyway...). I thought it was time to post a few WIP pics of what I've been up to, and show you what I'll be working on for the foreseeable future.
First up, three bases of Nurglings:
These are the first edition (read: best) models. I built their bases up with a little cork to bring them more in line with height of the current plastics, just to avoid any raised eyebrows in games (not that I currently play against anyone like that, but you never know).
I've also been working on some more first edition Horrors, either for jumping out of the portalglyph, for summoning, or for beefing up my current unit for larger games:
Lastly, been frantically assembling three units of first edition Daemonettes for summoning purposes:
Oh yeh and here's the lot together:
Of course, when I say "the lot", I don't mean anything like that. This horde is *most* of what I currently have undercoated and ready to paint. I'm also working on the Forge World Khorne Daemon Prince (just for funsies), a bunch more old school daemons, and this little lot sitting atop my cabinet:
*sigh...* Looks like I'll be a busy boy for a while yet. However, everyone knows that if you finish painting all your models, you die. I'm just not willing to take that chance...

First models of 2015: Plaguebearer command
Greetings all.
Happy new year and all that jazz. So, having set myself the goal of painting 100 models this year, I thought it best if I got cracking.
I thought I'd start with something I enjoy painting and could get done pretty quickly. Plaguebearers fit the bill nicely. Nurgle is by far my favourite chaos god, but doesn't always crush my enemies the way I'd like (too slow, and cover-ignoring weaponry messes Nurgle right up). However... thanks to 7th edition and summoning, my Nurgle boys have their uses again. I've already got a bunch of Plaguebearers painted up, but since the command group comes free with summoned units, it would be silly not to include them. So, without further ado:
There's a small amount of conversion work gone into these guys, but nothing too drastic. The 1st edition champion had horns added from the current plastics (to mark him out as a champion), and the icon bearer had an icon from the same kit, with a plasticard banner pole. The 2nd edition champion is untouched, but the icon bearer had the top of his banner pole resculpted, and a modern icon added too. Well that's 4% of my overall goal achieved... *sigh*.
Comments are welcome of course!

2014 in review
Greetings all.
Welcome to my final post of 2014!
This has actually been a pretty good year for me hobby-wise. I've painted exactly 80 models (of various shapes and sizes), which is damn good going by my standards.
Not the best picture I know, but I think you get the idea. Everything you see there, bar the boards, was painted this year. To give you a run down, that is:

Not the best picture I know, but I think you get the idea. Everything you see there, bar the boards, was painted this year. To give you a run down, that is:
- Great unclean one
- Nurgle daemon prince
- 16 flesh hounds
- Portalglyph
- Khorne herald on juggernaut
- 12 1st edition horrors
- Slaanesh daemon prince
- 12 2nd edition horrors
- 14 screamers
- Nine familiars
- Three rocky outcrops
- Two tzeentch heralds on discs
- Three flamers
- Chaos bastion
- Be'lakor
- Fateweaver
- Tzeentch herald on foot
Phew, not bad! I'm pleased with my progress so far, but there is so much to do in the next year :S
My goals for 2015 are:
- Paint 100 models! Specifically that is: 40 daemonettes, eight or so nurgling bases, 20 cultists, two soul grinders, three plague drones, khorne daemon prince (forge world), tzeentch daemon prince, slaanesh daemon prince, chaos knight... Plus a bunch of other stuff that I haven't quite decided on yet.
- Play at least 40 games. I've done a lot of painting this year, but not played nearly enough games. Gotta rectify that in 2015.
- Expand my daemons. I've got about 1850 points fully painted at the moment, but I want to paint a whole bunch more to give me options for different lists. I might also mix things up with some unexpected allies (orks, necrons, maybe even "crone world" style eldar or radical space marines like the Relictors).
- Make a start on my chaos marines/renegades & heretics. I haven't quite decided which yet, but either way they'll work well as allies to my beloved daemons.
So all in all, not a bad year. Roll on the next one!

Penultimate hobby update of the year
Greetings all.
This will be very nearly my final post of the year (I'll be posting a little retrospective in a couple of days), and I'll keep it short and sweet.
I managed to bash out the last three Screamers, and another psychic marker:
Bye for now.

This little guy represents "Forewarning", because he can see what's coming... |
Now I've got the two units of Screamers all painted, and very nearly all my psychic markers :D. It's been a pretty good year for me hobby-wise, and I'll sum it up in the next few days.
Bye for now.
