Tanks for the memories: Re-refurbished Rhino...

Greetings all.

Bit of an odd post this, so let me explain.

Several years ago I built up a small World Eaters army, used it in a few games, and then sold most of it off. Although I got a decent price for it (and used the money to fund the purchase of MOAR DAEMONS), I regretted selling some bits as I was pretty fond of the army.

While gathering bits together for my fledgling Khorne Daemonkin army, I stumbled across one of my old World Eater rhinos on eBay, and immediately snapped it up.

I had originally restored the rhino from a poorly painted mess, and was pretty pleased with it. When I re-bought it, it turned out that its temporary owner hadn't been quite as kind to it as I was... But after a second bout of restoration work, I was left with this little beauty:

A very happy addition to my Khorne forces! I'll be using it to cart some Possessed around when running the Slaughtercult formation, and maybe even sticking some cultists in when not.

Comments are of course welcome!

  1. There's so much conversion work on this beast the old GW Bitz order trolls must've been kept up late into the night with your order.
Dare I say it but did you actually brush paint this beauty? It looks fantastic don't get me wrong, it just doesn't have that smug "look at me I'm perfectly blended" look that airbrushed vehicles usually have.
Looking forward to seeing the "slaughter cult"
Sounds like an 80's metal band!

    1. Haha yeh there are more than a few bits that went into making this bad boy. The odd thing is that I still have juggernaut heads to spare for other conversions...

And yep, all brush painted all the time! Tbh the painting isn't my finest work by a long stretch, but I was happy for this beast to look a bit rugged.

I'm becoming a real fan of the Khorne Daemonkin codex, in terms of both the fluff and the crunch. It's definitely got some strength in battle, and there are lots of little references to the RoC golden days. Literally everything in the codex sounds like it could be an 80s metal band, so what's not to like??

  2. That is quite hilarious that you repurchased your own tank! Did you make a profit?

In any case, I'm glad your Rhino found its way home. It looks just great - I love that Juggernaut like face on the front.

    1. Nah I made a loss, but it was a small price to pay to alleviate the guilt of having sold it in the first place! Glad you like it!

  3. It's a great story, and the Rhino looks brilliant.
We've discussed it before, but I have one of your Khornate Traitors from that army!

    1. Thanks man :) Yeh I don't feel half as guilty knowing that at least one of my renegades went to a good home! Don't ever sell your painted stuff though, it's not worth the regret! Well, unless selling your painted stuff is your business. In that case I suspect it's ok ;)

    2. Oh man, it took me nearly 20 years to get one army painted!
I know people do it but I just couldn't sell an army...maybe I've never been desperate enough though.

  4. What are the chances man! Sweet ride - It must be fate

Tell you what, I'd rather sell a kidney than sell any of my little dudes... You must've been under the influence of Tzeentch himself when you made that call...

  5. Too funny, I think I have most of your Khorne force and I've just suggested in an earlier post that you may like to take on my grey knights some time I suppose it isn't impossible that you could end up either playing with them or against them again.

And no I don't fancy selling them back they are too nice.

    1. I definitely think we could make that happen!

I don't blame you for not wanting to part with them :P out of interest, what do you have from my old force? I'm glad you're taking good care of them!

    3. Wow good haul man! It wasn't a big force to begin with, so that's most of it.
