Rogue Trader project is a go!

Greetings all.

As anyone who reads this blog will know, this won't be the first time I've painted a model from the Rogue Trader (RT) period. However, this is the first time I've painted something specifically for use in a RT setting... With that in the back of my mind, I picked out a model that just oozes Rogue Trader cool: the Ambull!

I went for a pretty standard beige and green colour scheme for this guy, and I'm pretty pleased with how he came out. Plenty more RT awesomeness coming soon.

  1. Awesome dude, love the palette is excellent and the light green glaze on the head(?) arteries fit just right and draw the eyes to, well, his eyes. Nice contrast too BTW, this is not your usual bright style, you've transitioned to the subtle style very easily if this is your first model in your RT project.
There is no criticism to give but, if I were to say anything perhaps your could give the mandibles a touch more attention just to make them pop a little. Your basing technique looks very similair to my standard technique but a model of this calibre and paintjob requires a touch more love, perhaps some large stones or skulls?
I'm rambling. Great job, you should be proud.

    1. Thanks for the comments and crit dude! Tbh the pic doesn't really show the basing all that well, but there are some larger rocks mixed in there too (real and cork ones). Basing isn't really my forte though, so perhaps it's something to focus on in the future, especially with only a handful of models to paint for RT.

  3. Haha! Nice one dude, he looks great! Absolutely spot on - can't wait to meet him in some scenario or other... do you think he'd play nice with my Jabberwock?

    1. Haha cheers dude! I think he and the jabberwock will either wrestle, or possibly try to mount each other... I guess we'll have to roll some dice and find out ;)
