Greetings all.
After procrastinating for far too long, I finished up the last group of Daemonettes:
I went with a pale grey skin tone (the same as my Be'lakor) for this little lot. Here's the obligatory group shot:
I'm well pleased with how all the skin tones work together, and also differentiate the units at the same time. I'm glad to have finished this little lot, and very chuffed with the results! Now, onto some scumbag cultists...

Femme Fatales: Second Daemonettes Finished!
Greetings all.
Been a while since I posted, and it's just a quick one tonight. However... I have managed to get some good work done! Been powering through my daemonettes and got the second unit finished:
I kept the same colour scheme for the most part, but changed the skin tone so I could differentiate between the units. I'll be repeating this for the third (and *possibly* final) unit. I'll take a group shot of the lot once they're all done.
Hope you like em, comments are welcome!

Femme Fatales: First Daemonettes Finished
Greetings all.
Got a bit more work done over the last few days, and finished off my first unit of Daemonettes (first of three). These lovely ladies are such wonderful (and creepy) models, but they sure are fiddly as hell to paint! I'm very pleased with how they came out though, and I'm currently grinding through the next unit.
Comments are very welcome as usual!

Femme Fatales: Daemonettes painting queue
Greetings all.
Just a quick post to let you know what I'm working on at the moment. I've got three units of the original daemonettes on my table. I'm probably not going to get through them all right now, but I decided to basecoat them all anyway:
As you can see there is a different skin tone for each unit. Often I will designate different units of the same type of daemon by using different generations of the models. With these lovely ladies I just couldn't bring myself to do it since I love the originals so much. So I decided the best way would be to split them up based on skin colour (please don't quote that out of context... I could run the risk of being misconstrued...). Hair, claws and accessories will probably end up being the same colours in each unit, just to tie them all together.
More soon!

2014 in review
Greetings all.
Welcome to my final post of 2014!
This has actually been a pretty good year for me hobby-wise. I've painted exactly 80 models (of various shapes and sizes), which is damn good going by my standards.
Not the best picture I know, but I think you get the idea. Everything you see there, bar the boards, was painted this year. To give you a run down, that is:

Not the best picture I know, but I think you get the idea. Everything you see there, bar the boards, was painted this year. To give you a run down, that is:
- Great unclean one
- Nurgle daemon prince
- 16 flesh hounds
- Portalglyph
- Khorne herald on juggernaut
- 12 1st edition horrors
- Slaanesh daemon prince
- 12 2nd edition horrors
- 14 screamers
- Nine familiars
- Three rocky outcrops
- Two tzeentch heralds on discs
- Three flamers
- Chaos bastion
- Be'lakor
- Fateweaver
- Tzeentch herald on foot
Phew, not bad! I'm pleased with my progress so far, but there is so much to do in the next year :S
My goals for 2015 are:
- Paint 100 models! Specifically that is: 40 daemonettes, eight or so nurgling bases, 20 cultists, two soul grinders, three plague drones, khorne daemon prince (forge world), tzeentch daemon prince, slaanesh daemon prince, chaos knight... Plus a bunch of other stuff that I haven't quite decided on yet.
- Play at least 40 games. I've done a lot of painting this year, but not played nearly enough games. Gotta rectify that in 2015.
- Expand my daemons. I've got about 1850 points fully painted at the moment, but I want to paint a whole bunch more to give me options for different lists. I might also mix things up with some unexpected allies (orks, necrons, maybe even "crone world" style eldar or radical space marines like the Relictors).
- Make a start on my chaos marines/renegades & heretics. I haven't quite decided which yet, but either way they'll work well as allies to my beloved daemons.
So all in all, not a bad year. Roll on the next one!

Soul-searching: Slaanesh Soul Grinders finished
Greetings all.
Well it has been a little while since I've posted. I've been doing a bit of this and that though and managed to get the Soul Grinders finished at last... Until the painting odyssey commences that is.
I deliberated over the Harvester cannon for a while. I was originally intending to use the Defiler autocannon, but I wanted something a little different. I also didn't want two of the same as the Harvester is rapid-firing but not twin-linked. With this in mind I decided on a "mismatched" approach to the gun. I think this works well enough though as Soul Grinders are meant to be cobbled-together remains of destroyed machines.
The guns themselves are from the in-no-way-copyright-infringing "Forge Planet". They do some really excellent bits, and the quality is good (although not quite as good as the picture). Take a look before GW catch up with them!
That's all for now folks.
Cheers all.

Soul-searching: Slaanesh Soul Grinder(s) WIP (Part Four)
Greetings all.
A pretty short post from me tonight, just to keep you in the loop. I've made some good progress on the Soul Grinder... So good in fact that I've now built two! I've built them both to the same "template", with a few details to separate them. Sadly I can't finish them quite yet as I'm waiting for a few bits to build their 'gun' arms. Anyway, a quick picture and I'm done for now:

Soul-searching: Slaanesh Soul Grinder WIP (Part Three)
Greetings all.
Another quick update from me tonight. I've made a bit more progress on the Slaanesh Soul Grinder:
You can also see off to the side where I've started building my second Soul Grinder. That one will follow much the same template as this one. I still haven't worked out what I'm going to do with the gun arm... I might just use the autocannon from the Defiler, but I kind of want it to look a little different (and less like a twin-linked autocannon, which it isn't).
Comments welcome!

Soul-searching: Slaanesh Soul Grinder WIP (Part Deux)
Greetings all.
You probably shouldn't get too used to this daily posting malarkey, but enjoy it while it lasts. Just another quick update tonight; I've made some more progress on the Slaanesh Soul Grinder:

I've done quite a bit of conversion work to this guy. The main chassis has been chopped down to accommodate four legs instead of six. This meant that I had to completely replace the engine parts at the back. Thank you butchered Space Marine Dreadnought, your sacrifice was not in vain. You can see in the picture too where I've magnetised the join where the torso sits. Nearly finished with the legs now, just a few little details to add.
At this point I should probably credit my sources of inspiration. After a great deal of Googling for cool Soul Grinder / Defiler conversions, I stumbled upon this version from Amaximus. This guy's blog was an excellent resource when I was planning this conversion, so thanks to him for that. I also spliced some of his ideas with a bit of inspiration from this one by Mordian7th. Both very cool blogs, so check them out if you haven't already.
Before I go back to assembling this beast, I thought I'd share with you something that amused me yesterday. I was assembling the torso and head bits for the Grinder and I had to create a suitable ball joint to fit into the socket neck of the Maulerfiend's head. I used a bit of moistened green stuff and pressed it into the socket to get the right shape, and this is what came out:
It could just be my puerile mind at work, but I'm sure most of you will agree that this is hilariously phallic. I was expecting a reasonably spherical blob, but instead I was greeted with that. Despite being alone at my desk I couldn't help but laugh out loud...
Anyway, till next time.

Soul-searching: Slaanesh Soul Grinder WIP
Greetings all.
I'll admit that I've been pretty lax with my blogging of late. That's all down to boring grown-up stuff like moving house, but is something I intend to rectify with (almost) immediate effect...
To that end, here is a little teaser of what I'm working on right now. It's not much I know, but moving house and all that has set me back a little with my painting and modelling schedule.
As promised, a little teaser:

Early stages yet, but I like where it's going. I'm combining the Maulerfiend, Soul Grinder and Defiler kits to come up with something truly gribbly and daemonic. I've magnetised the connector at the "waist" so the torso is detachable for ease of transport.

Where am I and what am I working on? (Part Two)
Greetings all.
Those of you who read my blog will know that I've been a little quiet recently. It's simply because real life keeps giving me grown up things to be getting on with instead of painting my beloved toy soldiers. We're moving house this coming weekend at there's still a million things to do. As you might expect, packing up the flat has put something of a dent in painting and modelling time...
I have managed to get on with a little bit though, just to keep my oar in before we get to the new place and unpack everything.
It's not much to see, but I did snap a pic of what I've been working on over the last week:

Yeh, it's an awful picture, I know. What you can (just about) see there are two squads of Daemonettes (10 a piece), with converted command groups, and a Tzeentch Herald on foot. I was originally going to have these in my army list, but I think I'm going to try summoning them in and see how it goes. Still haven't had a chance to play a game of Seventh Edition, but I intend to rectify that soon.
Not much to go on I know, but comments are welcome!

Where am I and what am I working on?
Greetings all.
I realise I've been a bit quiet of late, and for that I apologise... The missus and I have been sunning ourselves in lovely Fuerteventura for the last couple of weeks (OK, I'm not in the least bit sorry for that). We got back yesterday, bringing slightly more than the allowed limit of tobacco and rum, and in turn making me feel like a real genuine pirate. Between being far from my models and having spotty internet access at best, I've been a little quiet on the blogging front.
Now I'd like to tell you that this will change, but that may be a cruel deception... So I wont. In the next couple of weeks we'll be moving house, into a much bigger place. One of the many upsides to this is that I'll have a spare room to set up a table of my own (huzzah!). One of the (only) downsides is that my desired level of geekery may have to take a backseat to packing and other grown up activities.
All that being said, I thought I'd be a good blogger and keep you all in the loop as to what I'm working on at the moment. It's all unpainted I'm afraid, but it might give you something to look forward to...
So for now, a little update on my current works in progress:
My current goal is to have a "7th edition-friendly" 1000 point list assembled and painted in fairly short order. With that in mind, I've assembled two Tzeentch Heralds on discs (although only one will make the 1000 point list). This will give me the opportunity to play around with the new Malefic Daemonology discipline and try out some summoning.
Bit of a shoddy picture, but you get the idea. Both of these guys are built from classic Tzeentch champions on classic discs. I put them on the large flying bases as this is what the current model is supplied with, and I like to keep all of my classic models "game legal".
Next up are eight Screamers of Tzeentch for them to ride with:
I've developed a bit of a liking for Screamers due to their speed and general utility, but we'll see how they work out. These are all made from the incredibly painful to assemble original metal versions.
I've also got a big blob of Daemonettes in the works. I need 18 for my 1000 points list, 10 of which are currently assembled with the remaining eight still needing cleaning:
These are the original Realm of Chaos Daemonettes, which are still the best by far (with the Juan Diaz versions coming in second). The one with the mohawk and pointing claw will be used as a champion for the unit. I don't quite have the full set yet; I may search out the rest at some point in the future, but for now I'm satisfied with the mix I've got.
Also to come are two Slaanesh-aligned Soul Grinders, but I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with them yet.
That's all for now; comments / advice / death threats are welcome as always!

Deep Purple: Slaanesh Daemon Prince
Actually it's a fairly light pastel purple, but whatever...
Greetings all.
This week I've been working on my converted Slaanesh Daemon Prince (named Sinwhip Lustviper), sporting the excellent Lash of Despair. Yesterday I managed to get him varnished, so here he is for your viewing pleasure:
Enjoy!

This week I've been working on my converted Slaanesh Daemon Prince (named Sinwhip Lustviper), sporting the excellent Lash of Despair. Yesterday I managed to get him varnished, so here he is for your viewing pleasure:
He's built from the old Daemon Prince model, with the addition of a claw from an old Keeper of Secrets, a scorpion tale from the old Chaos Spawn, a whip (and hand) from a plastic Hive Tyrant, and a mask from a Dark Eldar Talos/Cronos. I painted him up in pinks, purples and blues (to indicate his alignment, and also to echo some of the colours used on my other models, to tie them all together).
Enjoy!

New additions: Daemon Princes and Portalglyph
Greetings all.
It's been a little while since I made much headway with The Stormbringers. I was originally going for a heavy Nurgle theme, but after a few games of getting completely stomped I decided to rethink that plan... I came up with a few pretty good lists, but they all required a good deal of painting and building. I had nearly all of the models I needed, but they were languishing in the leadpile.
I began proxying a few of the models I needed and playing a few games. After some good initial success (although Eldar seem to be a serious problem...) I got my motivation back. I am delighted to be able to present some of the fruits of my labours.
First up, a new Tzeentch Daemon Prince for buffing my Flesh Hounds with the grimoire:

First up, a new Tzeentch Daemon Prince for buffing my Flesh Hounds with the grimoire:
Not the best picture I'll admit, but hopefully you get the idea. I'll upload some better pics when he has some paint on him. The model is based on the old (OLD) metal Daemon Prince, with the addition of the hands from an old Blue Horror. The head is a chopped up body of an old Pink Horror and the grimoire-bearing familiar is from Arkhan the Black's chariot. I based him on a resin ruin to give him some extra height and bring him more in line with the size of the current Daemon Prince models.
Next up is a Slaanesh Daemon Prince with a Lash of Despair for spanking flyers and armour:
A similar build to the Tzeentch prince, this guy has a whip arm from a plastic Tyranid and a claw from the original Keeper of Secrets. The mask is from a Dark Eldar Chronos and the head has been filed down to fit. Hidden from view is his scorpion tail, taken from an old Chaos Spawn model (the multi-part one).
Lastly, I picked up this very cool Portalglyph from Fanboy Forge. Unfortunately his shop seems to be closed at the moment, but I was very pleased with this purchase. No conversion work done to it whatsoever. I just slapped it on a piece of thin plasticard to make sure it sits flat on the table and added a little sand to the ground around the portal itself. I'm looking forward to painting this one.
That's it for now, hope you like em. I've also managed to find time this weekend to slap some paint on five original Flesh Hounds (of 15...), but you'll have to wait until tomorrow for that.

Best of Fiends: Slaanesh Daemons Showcase
Greetings all,
I'm going to continue showcasing my old school daemons. Today it's the turn of the Slaanesh portion of the army. The old Slaanesh daemons are also among my favourites of the range (behind Nurgle). In the future I hope to paint many more of them. Enjoy!
