Finishing off my Nurgle daemons: Part 3 - Plague Drones

 Greetings all.

I'm nearly there with my Nurgle Daemons now. Ages ago, as in literally years, I painted up some Plague Drones. Then a couple years later I painted up some more. I had always planned to beef up both of these units from three to six each, but kept on never getting round to it. Well, I've finally got round to it:

I've got Rotigus left to do, and then that's literally all the Nurgle Daemons done at last. Not that they ever see the table these days but it'll be nice to have them all finished after so long.

Finishing off my Nurgle daemons: Part 2 - Horticulous Slimux

 Greetings all.

I've been continuing my quest to paint the last of my Nurgle daemons. Of course, even when they're all done I'll have a mountain of mortal Nurgle followers to do, as well as the vast majority of a Death Guard army... one step at a time though!

My mot recent addition to the painted pile is Horticulous Slimux. I've liked this mini since it came out a few years back. It suffers from the modern GW problem of being a little bit too busy, but thankfully not as bad as some minis. It took a bit longer than planned to paint up, but on the whole was quite an enjoyable experience.

I also took a few better pics of the rest of my recent Heralds while I was at it:

Till next time.

Finishing off my Nurgle daemons: Part 1 - Heralds

 Greetings all.

I've been painting Daemons, and Nurgle Daemons specifically, for over 10 years now. I keep adding to the pile though so they never seem to be finished. I decided it was time to change all that and just polish off the last few that I have sitting around unloved. There aren't a huge amount of them to do so it's about time I got over the hump and finished them. The first ones I tackled were this trio of Heralds:

I deliberated for ages because I didn't want to paint them in my "old style", but I was a bit worried about them not fitting with the others. But then I remembered that it's Nurgle so anything goes. As it happens, they stand out a little (fitting because they're characters) but still fit the visual of the horde as a whole, so I'm happy.

Yet another mixed update

 Greetings all,

I keep saying I'll refresh this blog and then never do, but I'm definitely not ready to let it die just yet. I'll make this a fairly quick post just to bring it all up to date again and then consider what to do next.

As per usual I haven't been showing anything off or writing about it, but I have been painting a decent amount, and even playing a few games.

I'll go through it in reverse order, because there actually is a good amount to get through, thanks to my new best buddy "Contrast paints".

First up, I finished something that's been sat in its undercoat for literally seven years, and that's this daemonic "aegis defence line". It's been so long that I can't even remember where I got it from, but it's very cool. I painted it up to match my chaos bastion from years back. They're both in Word Bearer friendly colours because I had always planned a little Word Bearers army, but that never really got off the ground. Dark red is generic enough to fit with most evil factions though.

Next up I painted a Lord of Plagues that I've also had sitting around for a while. His shoulder spikes were damaged so I repaired those and slapped some contrast all over him till he looked good. Unfortunately I really like how he turned out (and his Blightking friends from before) so I'll probably have to paint some more of them.

I also added a couple more players to my Chaos Renegades team (which is more or less finished now).

In between all the proper painting I rebased some RT minis, which I think really improved their look.

I also added some 3rd edition (best edition) Blood Bowl Skaven Blitzers/Stormvermin to my team. These guys are a bit beefier looking than the 2nd edition ones.

Finally I used my best friend Contrast to fairly quickly paint up a Death Guard Kill Team. I've been meaning to get into KT for ages now, and the new edition seemed like the perfect time. I have an absolute mountain of DG minis that I'll probably get to as and when I feel like it. They're perfect for Contrast and they look great when they're done. The only thing holding me back is that I don't have much of a desire to play 40k these days!

And that brings it all up to date. I've currently got a few odd bits and bobs on the table, as well as a Nurgle Blood Bowl team that I got for my birthday, and I'm trying to get it painted rather than let it sit idle for years! I think next time I'll do the usual retrospective post, with a bit of a forward look to my 2022 plans.

Even more quick terrain for Warcry & AoS

 Greetings all.

As usual, it's been a while since I posted. Motivation is still fairly low (as I'm sure it is for most people at the moment), and I don't seem to get much traffic here these days in any case. I'm still continuing with the blog for the meantime anyway, as it's helpful for me to look back on it and see what I've done and how I felt about it at the time. I seem to start every post with a moan these days, but such is life at the moment!

Having said all that, I have at least been moderately productive recently. I said I was thinking of getting another Ravaged Land set to expand on the one of just finished, and that's exactly what I did. Thought it was best to ride the terrain train for a while longer whilst I was still inspired to do it!

I actually picked up a couple more terrain sets in the end. The first one was a little box of Timeworn Ruins to fill out what I already had from the Defiled Ruins set, but I enjoyed them so much that I also picked up a Shattered Stormvault to go along with it.

I smashed out the Timeworn Ruins in no time at all, in the same very basic colour scheme as before:

The Shattered Stormvault is taking a bit longer to do, but essentially following the same pattern as before as well. I kept the pillars and plinths separate, and kept the whole lot as modular as possible so that it would a) be easier to store and transport, and b) be able to match the Warcry cards. I actually magnetised the pillars and plinths so that they wouldn't instantly topple over if they were bumped into even gently.

Here are a few random WIP pics of the Stormvault set:

That's all for now really. I'll take a few pics of everything together when it's complete. I might need to get some trees or something to make a more interesting battlefield for AoS, but this will be plenty good enough for now. The plan is to go back over all of my terrain and do some more weathering at some stage, but there are far too many actual minis to paint in the meantime!

Till next time.
